Banking and finance senior associate advising borrowers, lenders and investors from Sydney.

Daniel advises borrowers, lenders and investors across a range of banking and finance transactions. His experience spans real estate finance, acquisition finance, fund finance and asset-based lending, developed at leading international law firms and during a secondment to a global investment manager.
Known for his commercial and solutions-focused approach, Daniel provides practical advice on complex financing structures and transactions. He is admitted by the Law Society of Scotland and has advised on transactions across the UK, Europe, the US and Australia.
Daniel advises on a wide range of domestic and cross-border financing transactions, with particular experience in real estate finance, acquisition finance, fund finance and asset-based lending. He has represented lender syndicates and borrower groups on high-value syndicated, mezzanine and development financings, as well as complex refinancing transactions.

During a secondment to Aberdeen Group’s private credit structuring team, Daniel advised on infrastructure, fund finance, commercial real estate and private placement transactions across Europe and emerging markets.

He is known for delivering practical, commercially focused advice and for navigating complex financing structures efficiently.

  • a lender on original financing and refinancings of a £90,000,000 funding of a prominent whisky distillery
  • a major UK bank on a refinance of a law firm with £50,000,000 term and £32,000,000 revolving facilities alongside bilateral lines
     

Background

Daniel joined Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in March 2025. He previously practised at Addleshaw Goddard LLP in the UK and Hamilton Locke in Australia. He studied at the University of Edinburgh, McGill University, and University of Salzburg.
