Josh works with clients across a broad range of sectors on complex and strategically significant technology and commercial matters. His practice spans both advisory and transactional work, with a focus on technology and IT procurement, large-scale digital infrastructure projects, artificial intelligence solutions, intellectual property and licensing, commercialisation contracts, and major services arrangements (including outsourcing projects).
Josh also regularly supports organisations in understanding and meeting their cyber, privacy and broader regulatory obligations - particularly in the context of incident response, governance and risk management. This includes advising on the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (Cth), the Cyber Security Act 2024 (Cth), and various State-based legislative frameworks. Josh is known for providing pragmatic, solutions-focused advice and bringing a calm, considered approach to high-pressure and sensitive situations.

- Kmart Group on all aspects of the technology procurement and implementation process for its first fully automated omni-channel warehouse.
- the Western Australian Land Information Authority on the contracting arrangements for a project to replace its current land valuation system with an Al-assisted cloud-based solution.
- an international mining company on its response to a significant cyber security incident, advising on all aspects of the organisation’s response including in relation to compliance with regulatory obligations, stakeholder and personnel management and the broader incident investigation process.
- the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the deployment of the transformational Tuvalu Subsea Cable System in partnership with Google and the Government of Tuvalu.
- a number of clients in relation to the commercialisation of emerging technologies and other IP-heavy transactions (including in the energy, agricultural and ammunitions industries).
Background
Josh graduated from Murdoch University in Western Australia with a Bachelor of Laws (with distinction) and Bachelor of Business (International Business). Josh spent five years practising in our Perth office before commencing a secondment to our Melbourne office in 2024.
Josh is involved in a number of the firm's community initiatives and pro bono projects (including advising the Aboriginal Art Centre Hub Western Australia, Anglicare WA, Community Arts Network, Foodbank, National Breast Cancer Foundation, Ronald McDonald House and the Plastic Free Foundation). He served on the Western Australian Football Commission's Community Football Tribunal in 2022 and 2023.
