Pablo is a junior associate in the litigation and arbitration practice in the Madrid office, with a special focus in financial regulatory advice and digital law.

He has experience advising financial institutions and technology companies, including payment institutions and electronic money institutions, crypto-asset service providers and private equity vehicles, on applicable Spanish and European regulation. He has participated in regulatory proceedings before the Bank of Spain and the CNMV and has experience in financial services, artificial intelligence and data protection.

  • a leading global payments and financial technology company on the multi-jurisdictional rollout of crypto-asset and stablecoin services, including advice on MiCAR, licensing, AML/CFT requirements, consumer protection and cross-border market entry considerations  
  • a leading sports and entertainment group on the design and implementation of a global licensing framework to support its international expansion strategy, including the licensing of intellectual property, know-how and business operations across multiple jurisdictions  
  • Due, a technology services provider, on its registration in the Bank of Spain's crypto providers registry (as a Crypto-Asset service provider, -CASP-) under MiCAR and on regulatory and corporate advisory services  
  • Privat 3 Money on the process of obtaining the authorisation as payment institution for its Spanish subsidiary, Privat 3 Europe, including legal support to the UK and Spanish companies on the preparation and development of the filling to be submitted before Bank of Spain  
  • a payments institution and its CEO on an inspection and sanctioning proceeding before the Bank of Spain concerning licensing matters, including pre-contentious advice, preparation of regulatory submissions and development of the defence strategy  
     

Background

He holds a degree in Spanish law from IE University and a degree in English law (common law) from The University of Law in London. He also holds a bilingual dual Master’s degree in Access to the Legal Profession and Corporate Legal Practice from IE University, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Artificial Intelligence, Data Protection and Digital Society from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is fluent in Spanish and English and is a member of the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM).
