Seth F. Schinfeld
He has broad experience litigating real estate and bankruptcy and restructuring matters, false advertising claims, employment issues, licensing and contract disputes, securities actions, criminal and regulatory claims, and general commercial and business matters.
Seth’s work on behalf of clients includes obtaining temporary and permanent injunctive relief for multiple consumer products companies in connection with claims under the Lanham Act; defending a biotech company in a lawsuit concerning the development and commercialization of a smallpox drug; and notable bankruptcy and securities matters, including representing a major financial institution in civil proceedings arising from the collapse of two investment funds during the subprime mortgage crisis and successfully defending a financial advisory firm against claims that it failed to diversify and warn of the overconcentration of investments in the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme.
Seth also dedicates significant time to pro bono work and community service. Since 2007, he has coordinated the firm's summer internship program with Legal Outreach Inc., a nonprofit organization that empowers high school students through the study of law, and he currently serves on its Advisory Board.

Represents the developer and sponsor of the 432 Park Avenue Condominium against damages claims related to alleged construction defects and design flaws in the luxury supertall condominium building.
Represents the Ad Hoc Committee of Governmental and Other Contingent Litigation Claimants, comprised of ten states’ attorneys general, six municipalities, the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in multidistrict opioid litigation, and a federally recognized Native American tribe, in the Purdue Pharma LP chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.
Represented the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Rite Aid, which filed for chapter 11 protection in the bankruptcy court for the District of New Jersey on Oct. 15, 2023.
Represented the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Brazos Electric Power Cooperative Inc., obtaining 90 cent cash payment in six months for over $1.5 billion in claims over the concerted opposition of the debtor’s largest shareholders and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas.
Represented a joint venture in a lawsuit concerning the development and commercialization of a drug intended for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.
Represented the Procter & Gamble Co. before NAD in challenges concerning comparative advertising for and against the company’s Pampers brand disposable diapers.
Represented Neutrogena Corp. in a false advertising dispute concerning claims about the company’s sunscreen products.
Represented PBM Products in a false advertising dispute concerning claims about store-brand infant formula.
Represented Bear Stearns in both civil and criminal proceedings focused on the collapse of two investment funds related to the subprime mortgage crisis.
Represented a biotech company in a lawsuit concerning the development and commercialization of a smallpox drug.
