Anne Beresford
Anne advises on projects and transactions in the energy sector across Australia and Asia.
Anne has extensive experience advising clients across the energy sector in relation to acquisitions and divestments, project development, joint ventures and offtake arrangements. She has particular expertise in upstream oil and gas, LNG and increasingly, new energy projects. With a strong interest in the energy transition, Anne also advises clients on renewable energy and decarbonisation projects.
Anne is known for her commercial approach, responsiveness and deep understanding of the industry. She frequently advises clients on complex and bespoke commercial contracts and focuses on providing an excellent client experience.

- M&A transactions, including advising:
- EIG on its proposed acquisition of 10% of the shares in Australia Pacific LNG for US$1.592 billion, and subsequently Brookfield and EIG on their proposed acquisition of Origin Energy Limited;*
- Global Infrastructure Partners on its:
- acquisition of an interest in the common facilities of Shell’s QCLNG project for US$2.5 billion;*
- US$750 million investment into a joint venture with Total GLNG Australia (TGA) in relation to TGA’s interest in the Gladstone LNG Project’s downstream infrastructure facilities;*
- acquisition from Woodside of a 49% interest in the Pluto Train 2 LNG Project;* and
- strategic investment in the A$5 billion Karratha Ammonia and Urea Plant in the Burrup Peninsula, Western Australia;* and
- Santos Limited on its acquisition of ConocoPhillips’ interest in the Darwin LNG Facility and associated offshore petroleum tenements for US$1.265 billion, and subsequent sell-down to SK;*
- LNG and gas trading, including advising both buyers and sellers of gas and LNG on long term and master sale and purchase agreements (including for trucked LNG), including Santos, Woodside, Pertamina, Petronas and the Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc.;*
- Renewable energy projects, including advising:
- Reventus Power Limited on its successful application for a Feasibility Licence for development of the Gippsland Skies offshore wind project (in consortium with Mainstream Renewable Power, AGL Energy and DIRECT Infrastructure);*
- Windlab on the joint development arrangements for its North Queensland Super Hub wind farm project;* and
- LMS Energy on its joint venture with Cleanaway Waste Management for a waste to energy project at the Lucas Heights landfill;*
- LNG import terminals, including advising:
- CLP on the development of an LNG import terminal for Hong Kong;* and
- Viva Energy on the development of its proposed LNG import terminal in Geelong, Victoria;*
- Carbon management, including advising:
- Rio Tinto on its acquisition of a 14.15% equity interest in Australian Integrated Carbon Pty Ltd and associated ACCU Offtake Agreement;* and
- A large mining company on the structuring of its carbon management arrangements across a number of its joint ventures;* and
- New energy, including advising:
- APA on its participation in the Central Queensland Hydrogen Project;* and

Background
Anne holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hon), Bachelor of Social Science and a Juris Doctor, all from the University of Queensland. She has worked on both the east and west coasts of Australia, and also spent a number of years working in Singapore with another large international firm.
