Hazel Xu
Hazel advises clients on competition matters, including merger control, competition compliance and antitrust investigations.
A member of firm's CRT (Competition, Regulation and Trade) team, she has an extensive background in various competition matters. Skilled at establishing smooth communication channels between governments and businesses, Hazel assists businesses to understand the challenges raised by competition authorities and preparing effective countermeasures. Simultaneously, she aids competition authorities in fulfilling regulatory procedures and meeting government requirements.
She advises across a wide range of industries, including commodities trading, energy, consumer goods, retail, medical equipment and public utilities. Additionally, she is experienced in commodity trading, foreign direct investment and related corporate affairs.
Before joining the firm, Hazel worked as a legal consultant seconded to the China headquarters of a globally-renowned independent commodity trading and logistics company.
She holds a master’s degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of Sheffield, UK. Hazel is fluent in both English and Chinese, and is a qualified lawyer in the People's Republic of China (PRC).
