Leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer has advised Advanta Seeds Group (Advanta Seeds), a subsidiary of UPL Group, on its acquisition of Adriatica S.p.A.'s (Adriatica) business dedicated to the research, development, production and marketing of maize and corn seeds.
Advanta Seeds is a renowned global agricultural group committed to sustainable farming and enhancing food security. Adriatica, an Italian agribusiness with over 50 years of experience in the European markets, specialises in the production of fertilisers and nutritional solutions for agriculture.
This move strengthens Advanta Seeds' presence in the European corn market, helping the company expand its offerings to European farmers and build its crop portfolio.
The Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer team was led by partner and Italy head of Corporate Augusto Santoro and senior associate Cesare Saputo, along with UPL relationship partner Siddhartha Shukla.
Partner Augusto Santoro commented: "We are proud to have advised Advanta Seeds on this transaction which will accelerate the company's growth while leveraging its assets in other key markets. The deal demonstrates our deep knowledge of the agriculture sector, drawing on our cross-border capabilities to support our client."
Partner Siddhartha Shukla adds: "It was great working with Advanta Seeds on this strategically important deal for its European footprint, one which will open new doors for innovation. We wish the team all the best for the next chapter of the company's onward trajectory."
