  • acting in defence of a class action regarding the interest rates paid on certain superannuation investment options.
  • acting in defence of a NSW Government agency in relation to an employee underpayments class action in the Federal Court of Australia.
  • acting in defence of a major Australian entertainment company in a shareholder class action brought in the context of AUSTRAC announcing an investigation into one of its subsidiaries, in respect of continuous disclosure and misleading and deceptive conduct allegations.
  • acting in defence of a State-Owned Corporation in proceedings brought against it in the Federal Court of Australia alleging misleading and deceptive conduct and unconscionable conduct.
  • advising various ASX-listed clients in ASIC investigations, as well as in relation to a range of complex regulatory issues under state and federal law.
  • providing independent legal representation (including preparation for compulsory examinations and documentary productions) to senior / strategic personnel of major financial institutions in connection with investigations commenced by ASIC

Background

Brenda holds a combined Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from the University of Sydney. She is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.
