Caitlin Poysden
Caitlin is a senior associate specialising in complex disputes and contentious matters.
Caitlin provides strategic advice to clients on contentious matters and helps clients navigate and resolve significant disputes and regulatory issues. Her experience spans arbitration, litigation, mediation, and investigations, working with corporate and government clients across sectors including energy, mining, consumer products, technology, media, telecommunications and financial services.
Caitlin has particular expertise in arbitration, including international commercial and investment treaty arbitration, as well as advising on issues of public international law. She has acted in high-stakes international proceedings under ad hoc and institutional rules, including ICSID, ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, LCIA, and UNCITRAL.
Caitlin is dual-qualified in New South Wales (2016) and England & Wales (2020), and has previously worked in the firm’s London and Tokyo offices.

- acting for a US energy major in arbitration proceedings under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules relating to a post M&A dispute concerning an offshore oil field in the North Sea
- advising an international mining company in relation to the potential ramifications of a restructuring for applicable investment treaty protections in two African states
- representing a European energy company in an ICC arbitration against a major oil field services company in respect of a dispute regarding the performance of a contract for well completion services offshore a West African country
- defending The A2 Milk Company in class action proceedings regarding earnings revisions and Covid-19 impacts on its infant formula markets in Australia and China
- advising a major global technology company in relation to novel digital platform regulation and associated regulatory investigations
- advising a leading global hotel chain on contractual disputes relating to hotel management agreements
- representing an individual in relation to an ASIC investigation concerning greenwashing issues
- acting for a global footwear brand in a mediation concerning a sports sponsorship fee
Background
Caitlin holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts (International Relations) from the University of New South Wales. Caitlin is also qualified in England & Wales, and obtained distinctions in both the Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course.
Caitlin is admitted to practise as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW, the High Court of Australia and in England & Wales.
