Helen specialises in China-related dispute resolution with a focus on international arbitration.

Helen advises Chinese state-owned and privately owned enterprises, multinational corporations, financial institutions and PE funds on cross-border contentious matters, with a special focus on international arbitration.

Helen has represented clients in arbitration proceedings seated in Beijing, Hong Kong, London, New York, Shanghai and Singapore under CIETAC, HKIAC, ICC, LCIA, SIAC and UNCITRAL rules. She sits as an arbitrator in arbitration cases administered under SHIAC and HKIAC rules.

Helen also plays an active role in the global arbitration community. She serves as a vice chair on the ICC commission for Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution since 2022, and as a vice-chair of the IBA Arbitration Committee since 2026. She is a member of the HKIAC Council and sits on the HKIAC proceedings committee.

Helen is fluent in English and is a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese. She has rich experience conducting advocacy in Mandarin Chinese and in English for various arbitration proceedings seated in Hong Kong. She also speaks Shanghainese and Hakka.

Background

Helen obtained her LLB degree from Peking University in Beijing, and further completed GDL (Graduate Diplomat in Law) in BPP Law School in the UK and PCLL (Postgraduate Certificate of Law) in the University of Hong Kong. She was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2008. Helen is fluent in English and is a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese. She also speaks Shanghainese and Hakka.
