Equitable briefing of women at the Australian Bar

HSF Kramer has been a proud signatory of the Australian Law Council’s Gender Equitable Briefing policy since its inception. We are focussed on widening the pool of barristers whom we brief, with a particular focus on briefing more women.

In FY25:

• 32% of all briefs nationally were to women barristers (equating to 26% of the total dollar value of all briefs).
• 47% of all briefs to junior counsel nationally were to women barristers (equating to 48% of the total dollar value of all briefs to junior counsel).
• Focussing on our Disputes practice alone, women barristers received:
  • 35% of all briefs to counsel nationally (equating to 29% of the total dollar amount of those briefs).
  • 54% of all briefs to junior counsel nationally (equating to 54% of the total dollar amount of those briefs).
