James is a finance lawyer, with specialist experience in the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors. 

James assists banks and other financial institutions, sponsors and corporates on complex domestic and cross-border finance transactions. He has experience advising on a broad range of financing structures and products, including project finance, multi-source financings, holdco and acquisition finance and royalty and stream financings. James was previously based in London and has worked on transactions across Australia, the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

  • Neoen Australia on its $1.1 billion portfolio financing, comprising multiple renewables projects in Australia*
  • the lenders to the preferred bidder (a consortium comprising Meridiam and FCC) in relation to the approximately £550 million A465 "Heads of the Valleys" Road project. This project was the first public-private partnership to be procured under the Welsh Government's Mutual Investment Model
  • Vulcan Energy on a €1.185 billion debt financing package to develop the Vulcan Zero Carbon Lithium Project in Germany, an integrated geothermal and lithium extraction project*
  • Actis on the financing of its acquisition of a newly carved-out tower portfolio from leading Central & Eastern European telecommunications operator Telekom Srbija*
  • NEOM Green Hydrogen Company, an equal joint venture between ACWA Power, Air Products and NEOM, on the financing of the landmark US$8.4 billion NEOM Green Hydrogen Project in Saudi Arabia, for production and export of green hydrogen to global markets*
