Helen is a competition litigation specialist with a broad contentious practice and a particular focus on competition damages claims. 

She has acted on some of the most complex and high‑profile competition litigation of recent years, across the telecoms, technology, transport and financial services sectors.

Helen has extensive experience representing both claimants and defendants in proceedings before the High Court and the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) and is a member of the CAT’s user group. She also has in‑depth knowledge of the UK litigation funding market.   • HSBC – in defending the Article 101 collective proceedings brought by Philip Evans (Phillip Evans v Barclays Bank PLC and Others)*
  • Paypoint plc in defending Article 101 and 102 claims brought by GLOBAL 365 plc and Utilita Limited (GLOBAL-365 plc & Another v PayPoint plc & Others)*
  • Sanden Corporation International in defending a standalone Article 101 claim brought by Stellantis Group (Vauxhall Motors Ltd & Others v Denso Automotive UK Ltd & Others)*
  • HSBC on an Article 101 claim issued by a number of institutional investors that the Defendant banks engaged, by anti-competitive and collusive means, to manipulate the FX market between 2003 and 2013. The case was identified as one of The Lawyer magazine's top 20 cases for 2020 (Allianz Global Investors GmbH and others v. Barclays Bank plc and others)*
  • Vodafone Group in relation to its Article 101 follow-on damages claim against a number of smart chip card manufacturers following the 2014 European Commission finding that certain smart chip card manufacturers co-ordinated their market behaviour (Vodafone Group Services Limited & Other v Infineon Technologies AG & Others)*
  • A multinational orange juice manufacturer in relation to a follow-on claim by a group of Brazilian farmers*
