Joe is a partner advising multi-national and domestic companies on foreign direct investment, regulatory and litigation matters.

Joe advises clients on and represents clients before the US government’s Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). He has advised various clients, including public companies and investment funds, on CFIUS issues in connection with acquisitions and investments across a range of sectors, including defense, digital, aviation support, telecommunications, energy/industrial solutions, financial services, and laser technologies, and has represented US and international clients in CFIUS national security reviews. He has assisted clients with filings to the US State Department’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), in connection with ITAR-regulated companies.   In addition, Joe has represented clients in various compliance and enforcement matters before various US state agencies.

Joe also advises businesses on risk management and compliance strategies in connection with data protection and privacy, records management, and related issues. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US), credentialed through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Joe has handled various commercial, consumer protection and product liability matters in federal and state courts throughout the United States involving, among other matters, breach of contract, consumer products, investment contract disputes, digital systems services contracts, electronics, and alleged packaging misappropriation. Joe has been recognized by Super Lawyers in connection with civil litigation and by Best Lawyers for his work in product liability and related matters.

Background

Joe graduated from the Syracuse University College of Law in 1993 with a J.D. (magna cum laude).  Joe was Managing Editor of the Syracuse Law Review, and was selected to the Order of the Coif.  He obtained a B.A. from Haverford College in 1990 (Phi Beta Kappa).  Joe served as Law Clerk to US District Court Judge Nicholas H. Politan in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey, from 1993-1995.
