International arbitration partner Gitta Satryani has been appointed to lead Herbert Smith Freehills' Singapore office.

Also head of the firm's Southeast Asia disputes practice, Gitta will assume her role as managing partner on 1 May 2025 for a three-year term.

She succeeds Asia head of employment law Fatim Jumabhoy, who will continue her full-time practice in the firm's Singapore office.

"Client demand for legal services continues to grow in Singapore, as a hub for the entire Southeast Asia region, and I would like to thank Fatim for her stewardship of the office and its growth over last three years," said Gitta.

"I look forward building on her success in expanding our firm and its services to our clients, including the growth of our Singapore foreign law alliance, Herbert Smith Freehills Prolegis."

Singapore is the hub of Herbert Smith Freehills' longstanding Southeast Asia practice, along with practices in Bangkok and Jakarta and client work across many other countries in the region.

"Southeast Asia is a growth priority for the firm, and our business there is growing strongly," said Asia Managing Partner Graeme Preston

"Gitta's expertise as both an excellent lawyer and leader will support our team to further expand our services to clients in Singapore and across Southeast Asia."
