Alexandra specialises in the regulatory and transactional aspects of the energy transition.

Alexandra Nowak focusses on energy law, environmental law and CSR issues. She provides advice on regulatory aspects of the energy transition, with a focus on the decarbonization of industrial players, and is involved in the drafting and negotiation of project contracts (EPC, O&M).

Before joining Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, Alexandra worked for a French law firm on similar matters, and prior to that for the US Department of Energy (DOE) as Program Specialist, where she was based in the Paris office of the US Delegation to the OECD for nearly 8 years. During this period, Alexandra was seconded to the International Energy Agency to advice on issues of access to decentralized renewable electricity and to lead an intergovernmental initiative on the promotion of women in the renewable energy sector.

Alexandra's thesis on the environmentally sound management of waste electrical and electronic equipment containing ozone-depleting substances led to an invitation to speak on the United Nations Campaign for Responsibility on Hazardous Chemicals and Wastes.
