Elise is an Executive Counsel in the Projects, Energy & Infrastructure practice in Sydney.

Elise is an experienced energy and infrastructure lawyer specialising in large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar, battery storage, offshore wind and onshore wind. Her experience includes advising sponsors, investors, joint ventures, lenders and contractors in relation to the acquisition/sale, development, structuring, procurement, financing, operation and maintenance of energy and infrastructure projects across a number of jurisdictions, including Australia and the UK.  She has advised on a range of project documents and procurement methods, including split contracting, EPC, D&C, installation, design, equipment supply, ECI/early works, O&M, LTSA, network connection, construction/asset management and services agreements. 

In addition to her years of experience at Herbert Smith Freehills in Sydney, Elise spent over 2 years at magic circle firm, Linklaters, in the UK and has over 3 years of experience as senior in-house legal counsel for renewable energy companies in Australia.  Through this experience, Elise has an in-depth understanding of the technology, key commercial drivers and processes behind these large-scale projects, which enables her to provide practical, tailored and commercially driven advice to achieve the best outcomes for her clients.

  • Octopus Investments Australia in relation to the acquisition, development, structuring, procurement and financing of the Fulham 80MW Solar Farm with 64MW DC-coupled BESS in Victoria and the 300MW Blind Creek Solar Farm with 240MW DC-coupled BESS in New South Wales*
  • AGL Energy in relation to the development and procurement of the 250MW Torrens Island BESS in South Australia*
  • SSE Renewables and Equinor on the development, procurement and financing of the 1.2GW Dogger Bank offshore wind farms (total 3.6GW) in the North Sea, England**
  • Ørsted in relation to its joint venture arrangements with New England utility, Eversource, in relation to the development of offshore wind farms off the east coast of the USA**
  • Goldwind Australia in relation to the development and procurement of the 148MW Cattle Hill Wind Farm in Tasmania
