On Aug. 8, 2022, a federal district court in Washington, DC, granted Kramer Levin client EIG Global Energy Partners’ motion for summary judgment against Petrobras, the state owned Brazilian oil company, on liability and denied Petrobras’ cross motion for summary judgment in its entirety. The court found that Petrobras defrauded EIG and aided and abetted fraud in connection with a Brazilian deal sponsored by Petrobras to build and charter twenty-eight oil drilling rigs to drill for oil off the coast of Brazil.
