Herbert Smith Freehills and Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison have advised the Ardonagh Group (Ardonagh) on its agreement for investment by funds managed by Stone Point Capital (Stone Point).

Completion is expected to take place in mid-2025, at which point Stone Point will become a significant shareholder in Ardonagh, alongside existing shareholders Madison Dearborn Partners and HPS Investment Partners, as well as co-investors including a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and several other global institutions.

Ardonagh is one of the world’s largest independent insurance distribution platforms and a top 20 global broker, placing $18 billion of premiums and operating across the entire insurance distribution value chain.

Herbert Smith Freehills is proud to be a longstanding partner of Ardonagh and to have supported the Ardonagh team on reaching this important milestone. The Herbert Smith Freehills team was led by partners Shaun Lee and Mark Ife, with support from senior associates Tim Coorey, Adam Goddard and Christopher White and associates Raul Vellani, Sena Calin and Alexander Field.
