Herbert Smith Freehills advises Synergy on the construction of the King Rocks Wind Farm in the South-West Interconnected System

Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has advised Synergy on the development of the King Rocks Wind Farm, with an installed capacity of 105 megawatts.

The King Rocks Wind Farm will support Synergy’s ambition to pursue renewable energy solutions and decarbonise energy production. It will expand the renewable generation capacity in the South-West Interconnected System with the installation of 17, 6.2MW wind turbines.

Construction is slated to begin in 2025, with the wind farm expected to be completed in 2027.

“Wind power is a reliable source of renewable energy for the energy transition, and already accounts for around 17% of the electricity generated in Western Australia’s main electricity grid on an average day,” HSF Projects, Energy & Infrastructure partner, Dan Zador said.

“It was fantastic to have advised Synergy on this significant renewable energy development.”

The matter was led by the HSF Projects, Energy & Infrastructure team by lead partner Dan Zador focusing on the connection, construction, operation and maintenance arrangements for the wind farm, and construction of the accommodation village. Senior associate Maja La Rosa and solicitors Sean Frewin, Edwin Botha, Ebony Garlick and Robert Molkenthin also supported on the matter.
