Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer’s venture capital team has advised Brainfish Pty Ltd (Brainfish) on its A$10 million pre-Series A capital raise. The round was led by Prosus Ventures, with existing investors such as Peak XV’s Surge and Macdoch Ventures also participating.

This new capital will be employed to fund the continued rapid growth and expansion of the company.

Brainfish is an Australian company that is redefining customer support. Using its ambient AI platform and computer vision, the company has reinvented how users interact with digital products and transformed the way that customers and businesses interact globally. Its technology examines how individuals use a product and understands where they struggle, providing instant answers to customer service queries and enhancing customer support agents. Since launching in 2023, Brainfish has scaled to serve more than 5 million users worldwide, ranging from startups like Relevance AI to ASX-listed Mad Paws.

The Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer team was led by partner and Co-Head of Venture Capital (Australia) Claire Thompson, senior associate Adam Ong and solicitor Lachlan Haysman working in the firm’s Melbourne office.

Adam Ong said, “We are pleased to have assisted Brainfish once again. Its founders and the wider team were a pleasure to work with. We are so excited to have worked with them and Prosus on providing a pivotal founding round that will further assist Brainfish to scale globally.”

Daniel Kimber, CEO of Brainfish said: “Working with Claire, Adam and the broader Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer team was once again, an outstanding experience. This new capital will enable us to double-down on our mission to make customer support effortless, expand our global footprint even faster, and keep delivering magical experiences for the millions of users who rely on Brainfish every day.”
