The UK Government has launched an action plan for implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. The Action Plan sets out clearly the Government's expectation that all UK businesses should respect internationally recognised human rights wherever they operate in the world. Further, UK companies should use their leverage with their suppliers and contractors to promote responsible business conduct. The UK Action Plan also outlines the steps the Government will take to promote business respect for human rights, including by taking into account the human rights performance of companies in public procurement and export finance decisions.
