April is a senior associate in the Finance practice of our Melbourne office, focusing on corporate finance and debt capital markets transactions.

April acts for borrowers, lenders, issuers, arrangers and dealers in relation to a range of financial transactions across various industries. April focuses on debt capital markets transactions in Australian, European, Asian and US markets and on corporate loan facilities, and also has experience advising on derivatives contracts and structured financings.

  • acting for AusNet in relation to its issuances of A$1.1 billion and A$950 million subordinated notes, as well as in relation to a 10-year $725 million Asian term loan (and subsequent upsize) and other syndicated and bilateral facilities
  • acting for Macquarie Bank in relation to the establishment of TPG Telecom’s innovative handset receivables financing structure, which involves TPG selling eligible handset receivables to an off balance-sheet trust (financed through a senior syndicated facility as well as a subordinated facility provided by TPG, with Macquarie retaining residual income risk)
  • advising Lendlease in relation to its Singapore dollar perpetual securities (cleared through CDP) and in relation to its Australian dollar perpetual subordinated securities (which are classified as equity for Australian accounting and debt purposes)
  • acting for BHP in relation to the Australian law aspects of its US$1.5 billion and US$3 billion bond offerings under its US shelf programme, a €1.4 billion issuance under its EMTN programme and various syndicated and bilateral US and English law facilities
  • acting for Jemena in connection with its US$5 billion SGX-listed EMTN/AMTN programme, including a benchmark public syndicated Euro issuance and other syndicated and private placements (including CMU-cleared private placements) under the programme, and advising on the establishment of its common terms deed and entry into loan facilities and hedging arrangements
  • advising Dalrymple Bay Infrastructure in relation to the establishment of its AMTN programme and inaugural issuance under the programme
  • acting for the bank group in connection with a sustainability-linked loan for Dyno Nobel

April holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne. April is admitted to practice as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia.
