Bec Tannenbaum
Bec is a senior associate based in our Sydney office within the Employment, Industrial Relations and Safety practice.
Bec’s practice spans all areas of employment and industrial relations, providing strategic legal counsel to executives and businesses across a range of industries. She has experience in navigating complex legal landscapes, including executive employment, incentives, investigations, payroll remediation, due diligence, and general employment advisory and litigation. Bec regularly appears in the Fair Work Commission as well as the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court, representing employers on range of matters, including unfair dismissal, general protections and enforcement of post-employment obligations.
Experience & capabilities
Selected matters
- advising Boards and management teams on executive exits and remuneration issues (such experience includes advising a large financial institution on the departure of majority of its executives, which involved considerations of Corporations Act compliance and general strategy when negotiating with a large number of individuals)
- representing Bengalla Mining Company in relation to the Same Job Same Pay application made by the Mining and Energy Union in respect of the Bengalla mine
- defending unfair dismissal and general protections claims in the Fair Work Commission and Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia
- advising Bank of Queensland on its payroll remediation project
- advising a global insurer in relation to complex restraint of trade related litigation in the Federal Court of Australia

Bec holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours Class 1) and a Bachelor of Commerce from Bond University. Bec is also admitted to practice as a solicitor of the High Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Queensland.
