Hennie is an associate who practices within our energy, mining and infrastructure team in Paris.

Hennie advises clients on a wide range of large-scale, multi-jurisdictional, project development, financing, joint venture and M&A transactions in the energy, mining and infrastructure sectors. She has experience advising on complex domestic and cross-border energy projects, with a particular focus on the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors across Europe and emerging markets, including Africa and the Middle East.

Hennie is a foreign legal consultant registered to the Paris Bar, and a dual-qualified lawyer (Solicitor of England and Wales and Queensland, Australia) and is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

  • Sumitomo Corporation on a strategic partnership with Enefit Green on the development of the Liivi Bay offshore wind project in the Gulf of Riga
  • Verbund, Austria's leading electricity company, in its partnership with TE H2, a joint venture between TotalEnergies and EREN Group, for the development of the H2 Notos project, a large green hydrogen project in Tunisia that will export green hydrogen to Central Europe through pipelines
  • Maurel & Prom on its acquisition of a 21% interest in the Sinu-9 gas block in Colombia, complementing the previously announced acquisition of a 40% operating working interest in February 2025, on which Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer also advised Maurel & Prom
  • PowerCo SE, Volkswagen's wholly owned battery-focused subsidiary, on a range of offtake arrangements in respect of battery raw materials, as well as its broader battery supply chain
  • Automotive Cells Company, a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and TotalEnergies, on the €4.4 billion non-recourse financing for the development, construction and commissioning of three gigafactories for electric battery cells and modules in France, Germany and Italy*
  • Octopus Energy Generation, one of the largest European investors in renewable energy, on its investment in three wind farms in France with a combined capacity of 49 MW*
  • Japan Bank for International Cooperation and a syndicate of 16 commercial banks as lenders on the limited-recourse financing of the 488 MW Iles d'Yeu and Noirmoutier offshore wind farm*

Background

Hennie graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours with a double degree in finance and law. She commenced her career at a law firm in Australia before moving to France in 2022.
