Hugh is an Associate in the firm’s corporate practice with a focus on the energy and infrastructure sector.

Hugh advises clients on private mergers and acquisitions, joint venture arrangements, project development, and other corporate and transactional matters in respect of energy and infrastructure projects, both in the UK and internationally. He advises a range of clients including corporate investors, project companies and funds, with a focus on the renewable energy, oil and gas, and conventional power sectors.

  • TotalEnergies on its 1GW onshore wind and battery storage project in Kazakhstan, comprising of a joint venture with Samruk-Kazyna and KazMunayGas
  • Sumitomo Corporation on its acquisition of an interest in EEW Offshore Wind, a German company active in the offshore wind sector
  • Hartree Partners on its acquisition of Touton SA, a leading French soft commodity trading company
  • Perenco on its acquisition of certain offshore gas assets (both production and exploration) in Trinidad and Tobago, including work on separate offtakes of gas and liquids post-completion, pipeline access and gas processing arrangements
  • Maurel & Prom on the acquisition of Wentworth Resources plc, the independent Tanzania-focused natural gas production company listed on AIM

Background

Hugh obtained an LL.B. in Law and French from Trinity College Dublin. Prior to joining the London office, Hugh worked in the firm's energy and infrastructure team in Paris and is fluent in both English and French.
