Isabella is a commercial litigator with a broad commercial disputes practice.

Isabella has experience in large-scale and complex contentious regulatory investigations and enforcement actions (including ASIC and ACCC), Federal and Supreme court proceedings and class actions.

Isabella has acted for clients throughout the full litigation life cycle from early investigations and inquiries to defending subsequent enforcement and representative proceedings through to resolution.

Isabella has a particular focus on the banking and financial services sector and has acted for major corporations, financial institutions and individuals.

  • Acting for a major Australian general insurer in a large-scale regulatory investigation commenced by ASIC in relation to its pricing processes, and subsequently defending a contested civil penalty proceeding.
  • Acting for a major Australian general insurer in its defence of a class action commenced by policyholders in connection with its pricing processes.
  • Acting for a large Australian financial services company in defence of a shareholder class action in connection with market disclosures relating to fees charged for ongoing services which were not provided.
  • Acting for a large Australian financial services company in proceedings brought against its insurers for their failure to indemnify the company under certain insurance policies.
  • Providing independent legal representation (including preparation for compulsory examinations and documentary productions) to senior / strategic personnel of major financial institutions in connection with investigations commenced by ASIC, including in relation to misleading and deceptive conduct, market manipulation, reporting obligations and related criminal offences.

Background

Isabella holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Notre Dame Australia. She is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.
