Kara is a disputes lawyer specialising in class actions and major regulatory investigations.

Kara has extensive experience acting in significant commercial litigation across the State Supreme Courts and the Federal Court of Australia, and advising clients through complex regulatory enforcement proceedings.

She advises clients across a broad range of industries, with a particular focus on major securities litigation and product liability disputes. 

Kara has acted for a number of Australia's most prominent organisations and multinational corporations, including the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Bayer AG.

  • The a2 Milk Company: defending class action proceedings regarding earnings revisions and Covid-19 impacts on its infant formula markets in Australia and China.
  • Bayer/Monsanto: successfully defended a product liability class action proceeding regarding the alleged carcinogenicity of a herbicide product. 
  • Cash Converters: defended Cash Converters in two consumer class action proceedings in respect of its lending practices.
  • Commonwealth Bank of Australia: defending two shareholder class actions in Australia, raising claims in relation to the Bank’s AML/CTF compliance and disclosures
  • UGL Limited: defending a shareholder class action involving allegations that UGL breached its continuous disclosure obligations and engaged in misleading or deceptive conduct relating to its joint venture project to build the Ichthys LNG power station.
  • Lendlease: defending complex class action proceedings regarding disclosures in respect of Lendlease's Engineering and Services Business.

Background

Kara holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Journalism (Distinction). She is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and holds practising certificates in New South Wales and before the High Court of Australia.
