Nicholas Scott
Nicholas is a Senior Associate in the Disputes team.
Nicholas is a Senior Associate in our Perth Disputes team, with significant experience advising and representing clients in high value and complex litigation in the Federal Court of Australia and the Supreme Courts of Western Australia and New South Wales.
He has acted in the successful defence of the Iluka and CBA shareholder proceedings, which are two of the small number of Australian class actions to proceed to trial and judgment. He continues to represent clients in ongoing class actions in the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Nicholas also assists clients in managing key commercial and regulatory risks, with a focus on corporate and financial crime, continuous disclosure and administrative law issues. He has experience defending civil penalty proceedings brought by regulators and criminal prosecutions.
In addition, Nicholas worked as a State Prosecutor with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for Western Australia, where he appeared as sole counsel in jury trials, sentencing hearings and other contested applications.

- defending a construction material producer in relation to criminal proceedings commenced by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation
- acting for an energy and resources company in relation to judicial review proceedings brought in the Federal Court of Australia against Government decision-makers
- acting for Qantas in relation to multiple proceedings arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic
Background
Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of Western Australia. He is admitted to practise as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia.
