Rory has experience in advising on and drafting Power Purchase Agreements, a range of project documents in the energy and construction sectors, regulatory and legislative interpretation related to public sector procurement, and public-private partnerships. He has a keen interest in energy, construction contracts, and public-private partnerships.

- advising the IFC and RMB (as lenders) on a suite of Project Documents for Selebi-Phikwe 50MW solar PV facility in Botswana
- drafted a gas-to-power Power Purchase Agreement for BW Kudu and BW Energy. Advised on the use of the gas from the Kudu Gasfield in a gas to power plant. Advising on the export of energy generated at the gas to power plant along the SAPP network to customers in the region
- advised EDF on a number of BESS Projects to be completed under the Energy Storage Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme. Drafting a comprehensive suite of Project Documents and negotiated with international contractors, lenders and lender's legal counsel
- assisted Scatec in respect of its BESS Project to be completed under the Energy Storage Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme
- assisted a telecommunications and digital service provider to obtain exchange control approval for the remittance of funds from South Africa to a Europe
- conducted a due diligence exercise for a renewable energy developer on the Project Documents for a solar power plant in Lesotho
- assisted a large retailer in negotiation and execution of a Power Purchase Agreement
- assisting a renewable energy developer in drafting and executing a suite of Project Documents for a hybrid solar PV and BESS project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
- assisting a mining house in drafting a number of Project Documents for multiple construction projects to be established in support of a mining project in Zambia
- assisted a mining house in drafting responses to a Request for Information from the Department of Transport for potential Private Sector Participation in the rail and port sector
- drafted a legal note advising a multinational lender on the legislative and regulatory process for public sector procurement by a South African municipality
- assisted and advised a confidential bidder and drafted a suite of Project Documents that were submitted to the Department of Home Affairs as part of the Public Private Partnership for the redevelopment, finance, construction, maintenance and provision of broadband activity at 6 ports of entry
