Sophie Hazer
Sophie is in our Environment, Planning and Communities team.
Sophie advises Government and corporate clients in relation to a wide range of environmental, planning and strategic property issues, including planning and development strategy and pathways, Part 5 assessments, resources, energy and water law, heritage, biodiversity, contaminated land, pollution and licensing, crisis management and compulsory acquisition.
Sophie has significant experience conducting litigation in the Land and Environment Court (LEC), particularly in classes 1, 3 and 4.

State significant development applications for various renewables projects including Engie for the Hills of Gold Wind Farm, Global Power Generation for the Paling Yards Wind Farm and Crookwell 2 Wind Farm.

Transport for NSW in relation to a full suite of strategic environment, planning, native title, Aboriginal cultural heritage, land access and acquisition advice. Acting on behalf of Transport for NSW in proceedings in Class 3 of the Land and Environment Court.

Private landowners and developers (including Charter Hall and The Star) in relation to the compulsory acquisition of various assets for the purpose of the Sydney Metro West Project.

Incident response, investigations and regulatory matters for various private operators.

Background
Sophie holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business from the Queensland University of Technology and a Masters of Law from the University of Sydney. She is admitted in the Supreme Court of Queensland (currently holds NSW practicing certificate).
