Stephen Ferguson

Stephen conducts case law research and analysis in support of litigation strategy. His recent work includes contributing to internal investigations involving litigation risk and helping to develop and assess factual records through witness interviews and complex document analysis. He has experience providing legal analysis and investigative support across the energy, complex manufacturing, restructuring, and private credit sectors. He has also prepared client-facing assessments of legal risk in land use matters related to municipal development projects.

Prior to law school, Stephen worked in the legal department of a Massachusetts-based medical device manufacturer, where he supported a range of legal and business matters and gained valuable in-house experience partnering with business stakeholders in a highly regulated industry.

Stephen's pro bono practice focuses on transgender justice. In addition to helping clients correct their legal identity documents and monitoring state-level legal developments affecting transgender rights, he supports affirmative federal litigation aimed at protecting access to transgender healthcare nationwide. Through the City Bar Justice Center, Stephen also assists veterans seeking disability compensation and drafts letter briefs in support of their claims.

Stephen returns to the firm after participating in the 2024 summer associate program. During law school, he interned with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, serving on both the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force and the Public Corruption Unit. Through his law school's Housing Clinic, Stephen secured a favorable settlement for a client facing a wrongful foreclosure action. He also contributed to an affirmative housing litigation matter, drafting a motion for summary judgment, handling discovery disputes, and coordinating with co-counsel and the client.
