Subarkah specialises in complex cross-border disputes, international arbitration and public international law.

Subarkah has acted for States, state-owned enterprises, multinational corporations and high net worth individuals in arbitrations in major international centres such as New York, London, Washington DC, The Hague, and Singapore under ICC, ICSID, LCIA, SIAC, UNCITRAL and other rules. He has also advised governments on matters of public international law, and was the first Indonesian to serve as a judicial law clerk at the International Court of Justice.

In addition to his dispute resolution practice, Subarkah advises clients on dispute avoidance strategies and investment structuring for the purpose of maximising investment treaty protection.

Background

Subarkah is an Indonesian speaker (native), a New York-qualified lawyer, and has a Juris Doctor (first-class honours equivalent) from Columbia University, where he received the Edwin Parker Prize for top performance in international and comparative law courses. Having previously worked in New York and The Hague, Subarkah is currently on secondment from Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer to Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung in Jakarta.

Subarkah speaks Indonesian, English, and French.
