Will is a Senior Associate and Solicitor Advocate in the Dispute Resolution practice, specialising in insurance and reinsurance disputes across a broad range of sectors and insurance lines.

Will advises policyholders and other clients on coverage issues, policy disputes and related litigation. He has experience handling claims across a wide range of insurance lines, including aviation, business interruption, liability, political risk, marine and energy, and property damage, with clients spanning a wide range of sectors.

Will has developed particular expertise in warranty and indemnity (W&I) and other transactional risk insurance products, advising on claims arising out of M&A transactions across a diverse range of sectors. He also regularly advises on professional negligence claims against insurance brokers.

Will has completed secondments to Marsh & McLennan Companies, where he worked with the in-house legal team, as well as to our Singapore office.

  • AerCap in relation to its multi-billion-dollar insurance claims in respect of 116 aircraft and 23 engines lost following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
  • the Financial Conduct Authority in its ground-breaking business interruption insurance test case for losses arising out of COVID-19, both in the Commercial Court and Supreme Court
  • a private equity house in relation to claims for breach of warranty against W&I insurers as well as associated escrow disputes with warrantors in the Commercial Court
  • a reinsurer in Commercial Court proceedings against retrocessionaires in relation to a marine constructive total loss
  • a property developer in relation to a delay in start-up claim for a luxury development arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • a global mining company in respect of its liability, property and D&O insurance claims arising out of a catastrophic loss
  • a major insurance broker in relation to a professional negligence claim arising out of subsea cable failures on an offshore windfarm

Background

Will graduated from the University of Oxford with a first class degree in Classics. Will joined the firm as a trainee in 2016 and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2018 and as a solicitor advocate in 2020.
