Amelia is a solicitor in our technology, media and telecommunications team with a focus on emerging technology, privacy, information governance and data security. 

Amelia regularly advises private and public sector clients on their compliance with Australian privacy laws, information governance, operational policies, processes and procedures, data security and protection, cyber risk and notifiable data breaches. Amelia supports clients to launch diverse new and emerging technologies, particularly in the AI and EnergyTech sectors, while meeting legal obligations and managing privacy risks. Amelia also advises on the use surveillance and biometric information, direct marketing, cross-border data transfers and general use, collection, disclosure and management of personal and sensitive information. 

Her work spans large-scale technology transactions, digital transformation projects, commercial contracting, IT and telecommunications contracts, software licensing, and M&A-related needs. Amelia works with Big Tech and startup clients across the financial, health, telecommunications, and technology sectors, providing guidance on online safety, gambling, privacy compliance, trade promotions and sector-specific legislation, regulations and standards. 

Amelia’s global perspective is reflected in her work with multinational corporate groups on privacy matters, M&A transactions involving information disclosures, and developing solutions to meet regulatory requirements across jurisdictions. She also provides ongoing legal advisory support for national and global clients throughout the lifecycle of AI-related processes, products, and projects.

  • market-leading technology M&A deals in relation to transitional services agreements, IT separation, and data sharing arrangements, including for RACWA on entering a $1.35 billion general insurance partnership with IAG.

Background

Amelia holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) and International Studies from the University of Wollongong. Amelia is admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and High Court of Australia.
