Sergio Cires
Sergio is a partner in the Madrid finance practice with wide experience in all kinds of structured finance transactions.
He advises domestic and foreign banks, institutional and alternative lenders, private equity and debt funds, as well as borrowers, developers and sponsors on structuring and implementing all type of finance transactions, including acquisition and leveraged finance, project finance, real estate finance and restructuring and refinancing transactions, with special focus in the private equity, energy, infrastructure and real estate sectors. Additionally, he has also significant cross-border experience in Europe, United States and Latin America.
During his career, he has been involved in some of the most relevant structured finance transactions in the Spanish market within the energy, infrastructure, and some relevant industrial sectors. Additionally, Sergio has been very active in pro-bono matters.

- Buenavista Equity Partners on the €47,5 million financing, granted by certain Eurazeo lending vehicles, for the purposes of, among others: (i) refinancing the group’s debt; (ii) financing additional working capital requirements; and (iii) financing new acquisitions by the group, an international company of services and solutions in health knowledge management
- Buenavista Equity Partners on the financing granted to Vitro, a supplier of IVD diagnostic reagents and platforms to hospitals and laboratories, by a syndicate of financial institutions for the purposes of: (i) refinancing its existing indebtedness and (ii) financing its CAPEX and additional working capital needs
- ABE Capital Partners on the financing granted by CaixaBank for the acquisition of Sumtech Hospitalaria and Matclini, companies dedicated to the commercialisation of clinical, scientific and medical-surgical material and other related specialities
- Banco Santander and Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank on the amendment of a €586 million facilities agreement, originally entered into on July 2018 with Globalvía GVIT, for the purposes of acquiring Itínere Infraestructuras, one of the main infrastructure management companies in Spain
- Kartesia Management on the financing, granted to a company controlled by the fund PHI Industrial for, among other purposes, the acquisition of Teknicalde group, one of the main Spanish manufacturers of high-quality machine-welded parts
- BBVA, as mandated lead arranger, sole bookrunner, original lender and hedging provider, on the Spanish-law governed c. €60 million financing granted to a subsidiary of X-Elio Energy for the purposes of financing an 84.8 MWp photovoltaic generating facility and related evacuation infrastructures, located in the region of Murcia (Spain)
- the lender on the English law financing to an indirect subsidiary of EQT Exeter, a global real estate solutions provider, to refinance the acquisition, construction and development of its portfolio of student accommodation facilities in Spain. The facilities which are owned by a joint venture formed by EQT Exeter and Grupo Moraval are EQT Exeter's first investment in the region

He has a degree in Law and a specialization in Economics by the Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona, Navarra (Spain) and a master's degree in Business law by Instituto de Empresa (IE) (Spain). He speaks Spanish, English and Basque. He is admitted in the Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid (ICAM – Madrid Bar Association).
