In Q1 2024, Herbert Smith Freehills advised on many of the biggest deals of the quarter, including:

• CSR Limited on its A$4.3 billion acquisition by Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA
• Red 5 Ltd on its A$1 billion merger of equals with Silver Lake Resources to create a leading mid-tier gold company with assets in Western Australia and Canada
• South32 on the sale of Illawarra Metallurgical Coal for up to US$1.65 billion
• Link Group on its successful A$2.1 billion (EV) acquisition by Mitsubishi UFJ Trust & Banking Corporation
• Zhaojin on its successful A$733 million takeover bid for ASX-listed gold miner Tietto Minerals
• Ardonagh Group on the proposed A$2.43 billion acquisition of PSC Insurance Group Limited
