Aidan is a Senior Associate in the Competition, Regulation and Trade group in Brussels.

He advises clients on all aspects of EU competition law and policy, including abuse of dominance, cartel investigations, and merger control. He has advised clients in antitrust proceedings before the European Commission, various international regulators and courts.

Aidan has particular expertise in complex abuse of dominance investigations and issues relating to digital and emerging technologies. Aidan also advises clients litigating before the European courts.

He has advised major international clients in a wide variety of sectors, such as retail/consumer goods, TMT, financial services and transportation.

Background

Aidan graduated with First Class Honours in Law (BCL) from University College Dublin and holds a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Commercial Law from the University of Cambridge. He also completed a year-long exchange at DePaul University College of Law, Chicago during his undergraduate studies.

Aidan was admitted to the degree of Barrister-at-Law by the Honourable Society of King's Inns and called to the Bar of Ireland in 2019. He is also admitted as an Avocat in Belgium.

Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills, Aidan worked at another international law firm.
