Elan also counsels debtors on the legal issues arising in reorganizations and advises investors seeking to acquire the assets or businesses of financially troubled companies. Known for his creativity, Elan routinely advises clients on the opportunities and risks attendant to their positions in distressed situations.
Previously a member of the firm's Bankruptcy and Restructuring practice, Elan rejoined the firm in 2020 after having served in hybrid legal/investment roles with two New York-based hedge funds for more than seven years. In those roles, he leveraged his legal background to develop investment theses in some of the largest, most complex restructurings and certain other legally driven special situations of the past decade.
