Lisa Fried is a partner in our financial services litigation practice.
Lisa has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in a broad range of complex commercial litigation, investigations, and enforcement matters, with a particular emphasis on acting for some of the world’s leading financial institutions. She routinely represents global companies defending against, or being investigated in connection with, claims of fraud and other business torts, alleged antitrust violations, and employment-related claims. Lisa has led the defense of class actions and has conducted numerous internal investigations in connection with alleged violations of the securities and other laws. Her broad commercial practice also frequently involves bankruptcy matters and appeals.
Lisa has extensive experience representing companies in cross-border matters and navigating conflicts between U.S. and foreign laws. She is known for providing practical advice, communicating and managing teams efficiently, and being attentive to detail.
In recent years, Lisa has represented major European banks in class action litigation relating to LIBOR, forex, and SSA bonds; various global companies and individuals in connection with inquiries and actions by the SEC, DOJ, NYDFS, and other government entities; several of the nation's largest residential loan servicers in hundreds of class, mass, and other actions and appeals concerning lending practices; and global companies defending against employment-related claims and required to conduct employment-related investigations. Lisa frequently counsels her clients on strategic matters including jurisdictional arguments, regulatory developments, and emerging litigation trends.
Lisa maintains a robust pro bono practice that has included death penalty cases, immigration matters, and appeals concerning gun control laws.
