Maria Popova
Maria is an Associate in our international arbitration practise in Singapore.
Maria has extensive experience in international arbitration and commercial disputes before the English courts. Her practice encompasses a wide range of complex commercial matters, with a strong focus on energy and natural resources. Maria also has experience in disputes related to infrastructure, construction, mining and aviation sectors. She is skilled at managing high-stakes cases that require detailed knowledge of cross-border regulations and commercial law.
Maria is trained in both civil and common law and has spent, as part of her training contract, six months in the firm's Paris international arbitration team.

- a major French industrial company in an ICC arbitration arising out of payment obligations resulting from a suite of contracts for the provision of services in Afghanistan
- a European truck manufacturer in regard to competition follow-on damages claims commenced in the UK and across the European Union (including an application for collective proceedings in the Competition Appeal Tribunal)
- AerCap in $3.5 billion Commercial Court proceedings concerning aviation insurance claims for aircraft lost in Russia

Background
Maria holds a Bachelor of Laws (with honours) and a Master of Laws (with honours) from MGIMO University (Moscow, Russia), specializing in Private International Law and International Arbitration. She is a native Russian speaker with working proficiency in French.
