Sarah is a lawyer in our IP Disputes practice with experience advising clients on intellectual property, consumer and regulatory matters.

Sarah advises clients in all areas of IP and technology, including patents, trade marks, copyright, confidential information and designs. She also advises clients in relation to regulation of therapeutic goods and medical devices, product liability matters and consumer law, including on aspects of packaging, marketing and advertising campaigns.

Sarah has particular expertise in the life sciences and technology sectors. Alongside her legal qualifications, she holds a degree in Biomedical Science.

Her litigious experience includes urgent interlocutory applications, trade mark and patent office proceedings, class actions and commercial disputes including intellectual property disputes. This experience extends to industries including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, computers and gaming machines, automotives, consumer products and financial services.

In addition to working with commercial clients, Sarah is committed to increasing accessibility to the legal system. She frequently represents clients on a pro bono basis in tenancy disputes and participates in strategic pro bono projects.

  • defending Isuzu in Federal Court proceedings relating to alleged breaches of contract, misleading or deceptive conduct and confidentiality or copyright infringement
  • successfully defended Bayer/Monsanto in product liability class action proceedings regarding the alleged carcinogenicity of a herbicide product
  • advising generative AI developers and businesses deploying generative AI in respect of potential IP infringement risks

Background

Sarah completed her Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Monash University.

She is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria, the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia.
