Wajih is an Associate in our International Arbitration Group based in London.

Wajih specialises in investment treaty arbitration and international commercial arbitration, and has experience acting under various institutional arbitration rules, including ICC, LCIA and ICSID. He has a particular focus on disputes in the energy and natural resources sectors. He also advises on various issues of public international law.

Prior to qualifying into the International Arbitration Group, Wajih spent six months in the disputes team in our Dubai office where he worked on commercial disputes in the Middle East, and six months in the London corporate energy team in which he gained experience acting for clients in the energy and extractives sectors. He advises clients in both English and Arabic.

  • a Middle-Eastern company in an ICSID arbitration (ICSID Case No. ARB/22/8) against the Republic of Iraq regarding a pharmaceutical investment in excess of USD 150 million
  • a leading global energy company in an ICC arbitration relating to a pricing dispute arising from a long-term LNG supply agreement
  • a global multinational in an ICC arbitration worth over USD 100 million arising from the termination of agreements in a Middle Eastern state due to terrorist financing risks
  • a commodities trading company in an LCIA arbitration arising out of a coal sale and purchase agreement following the imposition of Russian sanctions

Background

Wajih holds an LLB in Law from University College London and an LLM in Transnational Law from King's College London. He speaks English, Arabic, and French.
