Leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer relocated to a new Tokyo office today, closer to many clients and providing a modern and flexible working space for its people.
After almost 20 years in Tokyo's Midtown, the firm has moved to Tokiwabashi Tower, a new building in the heart of the city's business district.
The new office combines flexible client meeting spaces with a range of workstations, focus rooms and phone booths for staff.
"Our Tokyo team celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, and this new location sets us up for the next 25 years of growth and success," said Tokyo Managing Partner Andy Blacoe.
"The new office offers an enhanced workspace for our people, closer to many of our most important clients, and provides room to grow."
As one of the leading international law firms in Japan – particularly in energy, M&A and disputes – the firm is in a strong position for future growth.
"Japan offers strong opportunities for us, reflecting our clients' global ambitions," said Tokyo-based Asia Managing Partner Graeme Preston. "With Japan-US transactions leading outbound M&A last year, our expanded US capabilities are in increasing demand."
"Deals between Japan and the UK, Australia, Indonesia and Singapore also featured heavily last year, and our firm's strength in those regions allows us to support our Japanese clients in all their most important global markets."
