Aaron Jones
Aaron helps clients with financial services regulation, funds management, commercial trusts, and structured financial products.
Aaron has over 10 years’ experience advising banks, financial institutions, and other financial services providers in relation to financial services regulation, funds management, and compliance issues.
Aaron has a broad financial services practice which ranges from regulatory matters and liaison with regulators to mergers and acquisitions and offers of financial products and includes advising on all aspects of retail and wholesale funds management, and the establishment of real estate investment trusts.
Aaron also has experience advising Australian and foreign financial services providers in relation to navigating the Australian financial services and markets licensing regimes, and providing general corporate and commercial advice in relation to corporations law, trust law, and contract law. He is also experienced in advising on regulatory strategy and engagement with ASIC and other financial services regulators.

Background
Aaron holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales, and a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in Sydney, Aaron advised banks and other financial institutions at magic circle law firms in London for over 6 years.
Aaron is admitted to practise as a solicitor in New South Wales, Australia, and in England & Wales, and prior to being admitted, Aaron was the Associate to the Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia.
