Anthony Patten
Anthony is the head of our energy sector globally, specialising in M&A and project development, with a strong focus on oil and gas / LNG and renewable energy projects.
As head of our firm’s world-leading energy sector practice, Anthony is at the forefront of advising clients on a range of energy matters. He combines deep sector expertise with the strength of one of the world’s globally recognised energy practices, helping clients deliver strategic projects across both traditional and emerging energy sectors.
Anthony has more than twenty-five years' experience advising on upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas matters, as well as next-generation energy projects involving hydrogen, ammonia and carbon capture. His experience spans major projects and transactions worldwide, including in Africa, North and South America, Europe and Asia, and more recently with a primary focus on Southeast Asia, North Asia, and the Middle East. Earlier in his career, Anthony spent six years as a senior lawyer at Royal Dutch Shell.
Anthony is recognised as a top tier energy lawyer by Chambers Global, Legal 500 and IFLR 1000 including a Band 1 ranking for Energy and Natural Resources (Singapore) by Chambers Asia Pacific.
Anthony's experience includes advising:
- PTT on the restructuring of its refining and petrochemical business in Thailand
- PTTEP with upstream transactions in Malaysia, Indonesia and Oman
- Mitsui on the Ruwais LNG project
- JERA on long term offtake from the Qatar North Field expansion project and related matters
- EIG / Midocean on its LNG business
