Irene is a junior associate in the litigation and arbitration practice in the Madrid office.

She advises Spanish and international companies on the resolution of disputes across various sectors and on national and international arbitrations administered by domestic and international institutions. She has experience in pre-contentious and contentious issues related to civil and commercial law matters. She has experience in disputes relating to construction, engineering, energy and foreign investment.

  • a Spanish engineering company on arbitration proceedings before the Danish Building and Construction Arbitration Board concerning design defect claims concerning the construction of a railway project in Denmark.
  • a Spanish contractor on its defence in ICC arbitration proceedings initiated by a Spanish listed infrastructure company in relation to alleged delays and defects under the Sub EPC Agreement executed between the parties for the development of a 50MW photovoltaic electricity generating facility.
  • Berkeley Exploration on an ICSID investment arbitration against the Kingdom of Spain concerning a uranium treatment project in Salamanca, Spain, under the ECT. 
  • a Spanish construction and engineering company in relation to formal negotiations and a possible arbitration concerning the delays suffered during the construction of a Combined Cycle power plant in Ivory Coast.

Background

She has a dual degree in Law and Business Administration by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), a master's degree for admission to the bar by Universidad de Navarra (UNAV) and a master's degree in Business Law by Universidad de Navarra (UNAV). She speaks Spanish, English and French. She is a member of the Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid (ICAM – Madrid Bar Association). 

Prior to joining the firm, she completed internships in another leading law firms in Spain.
