Kyle J. Ortiz
New York partner Kyle J. Ortiz brings nearly 15 years of corporate restructuring experience to his work advising debtors, creditors and other parties in interest in both in-court and out-of-court restructurings.
In his creditor-side work, Kyle represents creditors and lenders, in particular in restructurings across a variety of sectors. Recently, Kyle represented a group of creditors in obtaining approval of a creditor-sponsored Chapter 11 plan in the Eletson Holdings Chapter 11 cases.
Kyle has been named in Chambers USA New York Bankruptcy/Restructuring since 2021, and as a “New York Metro Super Lawyer” in Bankruptcy: Business since 2017.
Kyle dedicates significant time to pro bono work focused on housing, immigration and reproductive rights, and he has been recognized by both the Legal Aid Society and the New York State Bar Association for his commitment.
Prior to beginning his legal career, Kyle founded Operation ASHA Cambodia, an affiliate of Operation ASHA Worldwide, the global tuberculosis treatment organization.

Eletson Holdings: Represented the petitioning creditors in successful involuntary petitions in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of a global seaborne transportation company, securing approval of a creditor-sponsored Chapter 11 plan over competing plan of the debtors, and in enforcement actions against the previous owners following the effective date of the creditor plan.*
Acorda Therapeutics: Served as conflicts counsel to a biopharmaceutical company that developed breakthrough products, therapies and biotechnology for people with neurological disorders in their Chapter 11 cases to effectuate a $185 million sale to a global, privately held pharmaceutical company headquartered in Germany and, post-confirmation, as counsel to the litigation trustee.*
Served as conflicts counsel to a 150-year-old green coffee supplier in the restructuring of roughly half a billion in funded debt.*
Represented the debtors, a large e-commerce brand incubator and aggregator selling nearly 1,000 products across dozens of brands, in their successful restructuring of nearly $100 million in debt.*
