Belén is a junior associate in the litigation and arbitration practice in the Madrid office.

She advises in regulatory advisory services in the insurance and financial sectors. She is involved in the analysis and interpretation of Spanish and European regulations applicable to insurance and financial entities, collaborating in product structuring, drafting and reviewing contracts, distribution schemes, and authorization procedures before Spanish supervisory authorities.

She has also participated in regulatory due diligence processes in M&A transactions and in the preparation of non-opposition filings before the competent authorities.

In the contentious field, Belén advises on disputes related to professional liability insurance, D&O, cybersecurity, credit and surety insurance, both in pre-litigation phases and before Spanish courts. She has also collaborated with insurance underwriting agencies in the analysis and resolution of W&I insurance claims. Additionally, she has taken part in training initiatives and publications related to financial services regulation and artificial intelligence.

  • Lea Bank on their entry into the Spanish market and adaptation to the Spanish regulation, including legal advice on consumer credit, payments, AML and financial regulatory issues 

Background

She has a degree in Law and a Diploma in Business Law by Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE). She also has a Master's Degree for Admission to the Bar and a Master's in International Arbitration by Universidad Internacional de La Rioja. She speaks Spanish and English. She is a member of the Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid (ICAM – Madrid Bar Association).
