Glenn Kembrey
Glenn Kembrey is an arbitration and investigations lawyer in the Japan dispute resolution practice.
Glenn is a senior associate within the dispute resolution practice in Tokyo, with extensive experience in international arbitration and litigation, as well as investigations with a focus on compliance policies as well as anti-bribery and corruption matters. Glenn has also worked on employment-related matters for Japanese corporations. Glenn advises clients across various industries including in the automobile, construction, energy, infrastructure and pharmaceutical sectors. Prior to joining the Tokyo Office of Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, Glenn practised as a solicitor in London and Paris.
Glenn speaks fluent English, French and Japanese.

- an international automobile company on its defence in a class action suit on issues arising out of parts manufactured by a third party supplier used in its vehicles
- a Japanese technology company in SIAC arbitration in respect of claims concerning termination of licenses affecting its Indonesian subsidiary
- representing a global pharmaceutical company in a SIAC arbitration with its joint venture partner over the development and marketing of a product in Japan
- advising a major Japanese trading house in connection with a VIAC arbitration
- concerning delays and disruption to the completion of an urban rail construction project in Vietnam
- conducted more than 20 internal investigations for a major global healthcare company related to its business practices in Japan, India, Indonesia and other countries in APAC
- conducting an internal investigation for a major Japanese industrial company in relation to allegations made in connection with its overseas subsidiary
- conducting an investigation for a European IT company in relation to alleged misconduct by employees in its Japanese subsidiary
Background
Glenn is licensed to advice on the laws of English and Wales in Japan as a Registered Foreign Lawyer (Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi). He is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales. Glenn also holds a Master of Public International Law from the University of Strasbourg.
